LADY LAKE, FL – Lady Lake police have arrested two men on charges of buying Rolex watches through credit card fraud.
Elijah J. Scott, 22, and Maurice M. Jackson, 23, of Michigan, allegedly bought the watches at Jewelry Design. One was worth about $6,600, the other $9,000. They asked the store to order five more watches and they would pick them up later.
The cards turned out to be fraudulent. When the men returned for the other watches police were called. Officers did not find the two watches but did find two other Rolexes. They also found equipment in their car used to manufacture credit cards.
They were arrested and held without bond.
UPDATE - Two Michigan men were nabbed when they reportedly returned to the scene of the crime where they had allegedly attempted to fraudulently obtain Rolex watches.
The men had visited Jewelry Design at La Plaza Grande on Dec. 14 and obtained a $8,999 Rolex Submariner watch, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. They had paid for the watches using two credit cards which were later determined to be fraudulent. They also requested that the store order five more Rolex watches.
The men returned to the store on Saturday and police were immediately summoned. The men were found to be in possession of two Rolex watches and there was an instrument in their vehicle used for making credit cards.
The men were identified as 22-year-old Elijah Scott of Southfield, Mich. and 22-year-old Maurice Jackson of Detroit, Mich. Scott was also wanted on a Michigan warrant charging him with failure to appear on a charge of fraud.
Both men were arrested on charges of credit card fraud and booked at the Lake County Jail.
Bond was set at $66,000 each.
